Biotin is a water soluble vitamin, at least as commonly known as vitamin H. It is interesting that its molecule contains sulfur. It is mainly found in the body as a component of various enzymes involved in metabolism. In fact, this vitamin is also produced in the intestinal flora, so it is difficult to determine the amount and deficiency required.

How much is needed?
Biotin is also poorly absorbed in the human body: about half of the amount we take in our diet is utilized. It is interesting and important that egg protein contains substances that impair the absorption of biotin. Even when 30% of your daily protein intake comes from egg protein, the phenomenon that leads to a deficiency is already present.
Where can you find it?
Our best sources of biotin are liver, kidney, egg yolk, yeast, cauliflower, nuts and hazelnuts. Cereals - especially wheat - also contain biotin, but it is present in a bound form and is not absorbed. Fruits and meats contain very little of this vitamin.
Deficiency states
In the absence of biotin, inflammation of the skin and lips occurs, as well as hair loss and a decrease in sex drive. Depression, loss of appetite, anemia, sensory disturbances, elevated cholesterol levels are common.
Overdose
Being a water soluble vitamin, you should not overdose.
